The moment I sipped this wine, Pouilly Fumé popped into my mind. Unlike Sancerre, which is light and delicate, this wine made me think of leek and onion, with its complex herbal aromas, hardness and long acid finish. Yet the freshness of the Awatere's  Sauvignon Blanc is also present, which is probably what gives this wine its character. Delicious.
