2008 Manns Wines Solaris Koshu Aged Release

$128.00Price

The hue is a greenish-golden color that retains freshness while exuding a sense of maturity.  The prolonged aging has resulted in a pleasant aroma with depth, featuring fruit notes of plum and citrus, accompanied by the scent of nuts. The wine boasts an elegant structure with a well-defined acidity and a gentle sweetness that harmoniously coexist. The lingering aftertaste is impressive, showcasing a combination of fruit concentration and the smoothness derived from aging. This wine is a blend of fruit intensity and the mellow character developed through extended maturation.

In the 1970s, it was said that "Koshu is not suitable for aging." Challenging the prevailing wisdom of that time, which advocated aging Koshu without oxidation, Manns WInes embarked on a winemaking journey. Using Koshu grapes grown in Yamanashi Prefecture, we allowed the wine to mature for over 10 years without exposing it to air. During this extended aging process, the wine developed a deep and complex color, a harmonious blend of sweetness, acidity, and subtle bitterness, creating a unique flavor that cannot be achieved with other grape varieties.
